Fresh from sellout runs in New York, London and Dublin. True-life material woven into extraordinary tales by a master storyteller.
Irish storyteller Mary Kate O Flanagan takes you on a journey through episodes from her own life, showing how there’s a story in every stumble and a little magic in every story. After all, if everything goes according to plan, there’s no story to tell!
This show has it all: dating disasters, coming of age stories, human connection that brings hope, death. These precious moments of human experience come together with musings on the nature of storytelling itself. After seeing this winner of GrandSLAM Moth championships on two continents telling you about her life adventures, you will be burning with desire to tell your own story too….
Mary Kate was Ireland’s first Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth. She is also a Grand Slam Champion Storyteller at The Moth in Los Angeles and a Champion Storyteller at The Dublin StorySlam. You can hear one of her stories on The Moth Radio Hour at: https://themoth.org/stories/carry-him-shoulder-high This story went viral on Facebook, Instagram and most recently on TikTok getting over 2 million views in 48 hours.
With the help of theatre-maker Will O’Connell, she turned her winning stories into this piece of theatre, Making A Show of Myself which was first performed at Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre in November/December 2023. It received stellar reviews and standing ovations and toured Ireland in 2024/2025. After being presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2025, Making A Show of Myself had a sold-out 4-week run off-Broadway at Irish Rep in February March 2026. It received glowing reviews and standing ovations and Mary Kate was nominated for Outstanding Solo Performance by The New York Outer Critics Circle.
