A 3-hour introduction to clowning through failure, play and the joy of getting things wrong.
In this workshop, we’ll explore what happens when we stop trying to be good, clever or impressive and start paying attention to what is actually happening in the room. Through simple games and exercises, we’ll work with failure, awkwardness, bad ideas and unexpected mistakes as material for comedy and connection.
The focus is on presence, pleasure, generosity and finding the freedom to follow what goes wrong.
No clowning experience needed.
Piotr Sikora is a Polish clown, performer and theatre-maker based in London. His work combines physical comedy, improvisation, audience interaction and a taste for theatrical chaos.
His solo show Furiozo: Man Looking for Trouble has toured internationally across the UK, Australia, Europe and Asia, receiving awards and critical acclaim, including recognition from The Guardian and Chortle.
Piotr has trained with leading clown and physical theatre teachers including Paola Coletto, Philippe Gaulier, Chris Bayes, Aitor Basauri, Dr. Brown and Matteo Destro. Alongside performing, he teaches clown internationally.
His newest solo work, Blizzard, continues his exploration of vulnerability, stupidity and play, following a lost soldier trying to survive a snowstorm. (you can see it at our festival on November 14)
